Edward Joseph Drane 1939-2002
Ted Drane died suddenly in late September during the week in which he was to sit his final law exams. His death was a sad loss for his family and his many friends and also for the members of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia of which organisation Ted was the long time national president and prominent spokesman.
Less well known was Ted's contribution to sport in Rowville. Although living in North Dandenong, Ted took an interest in the Rowville Football Club when his younger brother Ray played for and later coached the senior team. Ted became secretary and later president of the club in the late 1970s. He also played with the Rowville Cricket Club and was a member of the club's executive for a few years.
Ted is survived by his wife Vita and the children of his two marriages: Katherine, Robyn, Angela and Stephanie.
